These exclusive commissioned works and new arrangements are suitable for intermediate level players. The flute part includes biographies of all composers and notes/ performance suggestions for each work.

 

All pieces in Lyrical Flute Legends have free flute & piano recordings to listen to, as well as free piano backing tracks to play along with.

Student Book 1

Here’s a book for beginners, with everything you need to start playing the flute!

The Young Flute Player Book 1

This is the second method book in The Young Flute Player series and it’s packed with a huge amount of repertoire!

 

The music includes everything from Baroque masterpieces by Bach to Ragtime music by Joplin. There are also traditional folk tunes, exercises, studies, festive music and a section of 14 longer concert pieces.

 

The progressive units introduce new material gradually, and the exercises and scales are directly related to the pieces. Words are included for some of the song tunes to assist with understanding breathing and phrasing. Italian words for style and tempo are illustrated with fun cartoon pictures to help students remember the meaning of terms.

 

To help students practise, there are FREE YOUTUBE recordings for every piece, as well piano backing tracks and duet recordings.

The Young Flute Player Book 2

This teacher’s book has the piano accompaniments and flute duet parts for the other books in The Young Flute Player series.

 

It’s important that students play with accompaniment from the very beginning, so this book has piano parts and flute duets for the simplest pieces, through to more advanced pieces.

 

Most of the piano accompaniments are easy to play, even for flute teachers with limited piano skills. If you have no piano skills, don’t panic! ALL the piano parts are available as free backing tracks on The Young Flute Player YouTube channel. The speed of backing tracks can be adjusted to suit the student and there are also recordings of the duets, plus flute and piano performances.

 

To keep the student method books (Books 1 and 2) uncluttered and easy to read for young players, the teacher’s flute duet parts are found in Book 3.

Beginner Duets & Trios Book 4

Young players who are just starting to read music can find it very difficult to follow a duet or trio. This book solves the problem with colour coded music, making it easy for beginners to follow their ensemble part.

 

Students only need to know 4 or 5 notes to start playing the first duets in this book, which covers Beginner and Preliminary levels. 

 

The music spans a wide range of composers, as well as traditional tunes from around
the world. There is a selection of festive music, a section of rounds (3-part, 4-part, 8-part),
there are warm up exercises, each focusing on one aspect of ensemble technique.

 

The arrangements work well with anything from two players up to a large flute choir/ensemble. Many pieces offer maximum flexibility as they can be played as a trio; OR the blue and red parts are harmonically complete to be played as a duet; OR there are also optional piano parts for some pieces, to be found in Book 3 (accompaniments).

 

There are free recordings of all the duets and trios on The Young Flute Player YouTube channel. These videos can be adjusted to any speed, so are great for students to practice their part at home.This ensemble book can be used either independently, or in conjunction with the
tutor/method books in The Young Flute Player series.

Intermediate Duets & Trios Book 5

This book of Duets and Trios (Grade 1 - Grade 3 level) makes it easy for students to follow their ensemble part by using colour coded clefs/key signatures. 

 

The music covers a wide range of composers, as well as traditional tunes from around the world. There is a selection of festive music, a section of rounds (3-part, 4-part), plus there are warm up exercises, each focusing on one aspect of ensemble technique.

 

The arrangements work well with anything from two players up to a large flute choir/ensemble. Many pieces offer maximum flexibility as they can be played as a trio; OR the blue and red parts are harmonically complete to be played as a duet; OR there are also optional piano parts for some pieces, to be found in Book 3 (accompaniments).

Adult learners tutor book 6

This method book is written specifically for adult learners & teenage learners and contains everything they need for a great start in playing the flute. 

 

There are 30 progressive units, with new material introduced gradually. The scales are related directly to the pieces, and the exercises help students practise new material, or prepare the difficult sections of a piece.  

 

There is a wide range of music by composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Bartok and Dvorak, plus traditional tunes from around the world. The arrangements include solos, duets and pieces with optional piano accompaniment (piano parts in Book 3).

 

To help students practise, there are FREE YOUTUBE recordings for every piece, as well piano backing tracks and duet recordings.

 

In addition to pieces, exercises and recordings, The Young At Heart Flute Player also features:
